Are you a newcomer to Canada with a story to tell?
The StoryBridge Network invites you to join the Holiday Alley Selkirk Newcomer Storytelling Café—a free, creative program for newcomer adults to explore stories of migration, identity, and belonging. Through writing and performance workshops, you’ll develop your own story and share it at a public storytelling showcase this November during Holiday Alley in Selkirk.
No experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity, courage, and willingness to connect in a supportive and welcoming space. Participants will receive one-on-one coaching with experienced mentors, build confidence, and gain valuable storytelling skills, all while celebrating the richness of newcomer voices.
Past participants in similar programs have shared that they:
Felt a stronger sense of community connection and belonging
Gained confidence and improved their communication skills
Learned about the experiences of other newcomers and long-time residents
By taking part, you’ll discover how storytelling can build bridges, celebrate diversity, and help you feel more at home in your community.
Key program features include:
✅ Free workshops starting in Fall 2025
✅ One-on-one coaching in writing and performance
✅ A public storytelling event in November during Holiday Alley
✅ An honorarium for participants
✅ No cost to join, and no prior experience required
