What happens when 84 people gather in a room to share their hearts, their songs, and their lived experiences? On December 6, 2025, at Createful Spaces in Winnipeg, we found out.

The answer is simple: Magic.

Our "We Are All Stories" fundraiser was more than just an event; it was a living demonstration of the very mission we hold dear at The StoryBridge Network. Our organizational mandate is to empower marginalized voices—newcomers, seniors, youth, and those experiencing displacement—through the transformative power of storytelling. That afternoon, we saw that mandate in action as barriers dissolved and bridges were built through the simple act of listening.

A Community That Shows Up

We were absolutely overwhelmed by the community support we received. Seeing 84 smiling faces fill the room was a testament to the fact that Winnipeg is a city that believes in belonging.

But an event of this scale doesn’t happen by chance. It happens because of tons of dedicated volunteers who gave their time to set up, greet guests, manage the flow, and ensure everyone felt welcome. To our volunteers: you are the heartbeat of this network, and we couldn’t have reached this milestone of impact without your hands and hearts.

Stories That Stirred the Soul

The stage was alive with talent that reflected the beautiful diversity of our community. We were moved by the powerful, rhythmic performances of the Roots in Harmony Choir and the joyful energy of the Ukulele Filipino Club.

We also want to extend a special thank you to our community storytellers:

  • Genelyn Navarro, for her moving piece "Pamana (Inheritance)."

  • Mariam Yide, for sharing the roots of "My Life Story Tree."

  • Jeanette Perez, for the heartwarming "Saturdays with U (Ukulele)."

  • Matthew Mwaura, for the profound "Wisdom: Mystics and Men."

Gratitude to Our Partners & Sponsors

An event like this requires a village. We want to publicly thank the partners and sponsors who recognized the value of our work and stood behind us:

Making it Accessible: Community Ticket Sponsors

One of our core goals was ensuring that everyone could attend, regardless of financial barriers. We are deeply grateful to the following organizations and individuals who stepped up to sponsor tickets for community members:

Why This Work Matters

At StoryBridge, we believe storytelling is "social prescribing"—a way to combat loneliness, build mental well-being, and foster a sense of purpose. The support we received on December 6th is already being funnelled back into our Open Circle Outreach Programs, ensuring that those who are often silenced have a safe space to be heard.

Relive the Moments & Looking Ahead

If you couldn’t make it—or if you just want to feel that magic again—we invite you to visit our Event Gallery Page. It features a beautiful collection of photos and video highlights that capture the spirit of the day.

The energy in the room was so infectious that we are thrilled to tease that "We Are All Stories" could very well become an annual tradition. We want this to be the cornerstone of our year—a time to celebrate how far we’ve come and to fuel the work for the year ahead.

Would you like to be part of the next chapter? Whether you are a future donor, a local business looking to sponsor, or a community member wanting to volunteer, there is a place for you in our circle.
