The Story From Here
A Book Series that Amplifies Community Voices & Creative Storytelling
The Story From Here is an anthology published by The StoryBridge Network. Each volume collects powerful true stories and creative writing pieces from our program participants—stories of transition, resilience, identity, belonging, and discovery.

A Community Storytelling Book Project
The Story From Here is a community storytelling book series developed by The StoryBridge Network.
The series brings stories from StoryBridge storytelling programs into print, creating space for participants to share lived experiences with a wider audience.
Stories developed through workshops, storytelling cafés, and community storytelling events are curated and published as collections that explore themes such as identity, migration, resilience, belonging, and memory.
Through this project, StoryBridge helps ensure that stories shared in community spaces continue to inspire dialogue long after a storytelling event ends.
What Is The Story From Here?
The Story From Here is a multi-volume community storytelling anthology.
Each volume brings together stories from participants in StoryBridge programs and community storytelling initiatives.
The series highlights narratives shaped through storytelling workshops, community dialogue, and creative writing processes.
These collections reflect diverse lived experiences while celebrating the power of storytelling as a tool for connection, reflection, and cultural exchange.
Why This Project Matters
Many individuals—particularly newcomers, youth, seniors, and people experiencing displacement—have powerful stories to share but limited access to publishing opportunities.
The Story From Here helps address this gap by creating pathways for community storytellers to see their voices reflected in print.
The project:
-
Amplifies voices that are often underrepresented in literature
-
Preserves personal stories and community memory
-
Encourages dialogue across cultures and generations
-
Supports confidence and creative expression among participants
-
Connects storytelling programs with literary arts and public conversation
By bringing community stories to the page, the project helps storytelling continue beyond the workshop or storytelling circle.
A Living Storytelling Project
Stories included in The Story From Here often begin in other StoryBridge programs.
Participants may first encounter storytelling through Open Circle gatherings or Storytelling Café workshops, where they develop stories through guided reflection and dialogue.
Selected stories are then curated and edited for publication as part of the book series.
This process allows stories to evolve—from personal reflection to shared community narrative.

Volume One
The first volume of The Story From Here will feature stories from immigrant and newcomer women who participated in storytelling programs focused on migration, memory, and belonging.
These stories explore personal journeys of transition and resilience, often inspired by artifacts, memories, and meaningful life experiences.
The collection highlights how everyday objects and personal reflections can open powerful windows into identity and community.
The book is currently in development, and publication details will be announced in the future.
Book Readings and Community Conversations
StoryBridge works with libraries, schools, cultural organizations, and community partners to host storytelling readings and dialogue events connected to the book project.
These events invite audiences to engage with storytellers and explore the themes behind the stories.
Community book events may include:
-
Storytelling readings
-
Author conversations
-
Community dialogue gatherings
-
Storytelling workshops connected to the book
Organizations interested in hosting a book event can partner with StoryBridge to bring these conversations into their communities.
Part of the StoryBridge Program Ecosystem
The Story From Here book project is part of a broader storytelling ecosystem developed by StoryBridge.
Stories often begin in community storytelling programs and grow through dialogue, workshops, and public storytelling events.
Participants may first encounter storytelling through:
• Open Circle Pop-Ups – community storytelling outreach gatherings
• Storytelling Cafés – storytelling workshops where participants develop personal stories
• StoryScape Youth Program – storytelling and creative expression programs for youth
Together, these initiatives help stories move from personal reflection to community dialogue and published storytelling.
