Storytelling, Creativity, and Confidence for the Next Generation
StoryScape is a storytelling and expressive arts program designed to help youth explore identity, creativity, and community through storytelling.
Through guided storytelling activities, collaborative art projects, and dialogue-based learning, participants develop the confidence to share their ideas and experiences while building meaningful connections with their peers.
StoryScape programs create welcoming environments where youth can reflect on their stories, develop creative expression skills, and explore the role storytelling plays in shaping identity, belonging, and community.
What Is StoryScape?
StoryScape is a storytelling and expressive arts program designed for youth ages 10–16.
Programs may be delivered as:
• summer storytelling and arts camps
• multi-week youth storytelling workshops
• school or community storytelling programs
• creative storytelling intensives or cultural programs
Each program integrates storytelling, creative expression, and dialogue-based activities that support youth confidence, communication skills, and creative exploration.
Participants engage in activities such as storytelling exercises, visual art, collaborative projects, and group reflection.
Why Youth Storytelling Matters
Young people from low-income households often face significant barriers to creative expression, self-confidence, and meaningful opportunities to share their perspectives.
StoryScape helps address these challenges by creating supportive spaces where youth can:
• explore identity, belonging, and community through storytelling
• build confidence in sharing ideas and personal experiences
• develop creative and communication skills
• connect with peers from diverse backgrounds
• engage in positive dialogue and collaboration
Storytelling allows youth to see their experiences as meaningful and valuable while helping them build empathy and understanding for others.
What Participants Experience
StoryScape programs combine storytelling with expressive arts and collaborative activities.
Youth participants may:
• develop personal or imaginative stories
• explore storytelling through art, writing, or performance
• participate in group dialogue and reflection
• collaborate on creative storytelling projects
• share their work in a final presentation, showcase, or community event
Programs are designed to be engaging, supportive, and culturally responsive, helping youth discover their voices while learning from one another.
